The Spectrum opened in 1967 and was designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill. It was later known as the CoreStates Spectrum (1994-1998), First Union Spectrum (1998-2003), and Wachovia Spectrum (2003-2009). In addition to serving as the home of Philadelphia's NBA and NHL teams, the Spectrum was host to rock's biggest names from the 1970s through the 1990s, until its demolition in 2009-2010. The Flyers and 76ers moved to the Wells Fargo Center, just south of the Spectrum site.
